I am the author of a humorous southern mystery, Murder & Mayhem In Goose Pimple Junction. As an Indie author, I know how hard it is to get your name and your book out there. So I started this blog in the hopes of helping other authors promote their work. In the South, "a blue million" means a lot of something, or an infinite amount. I think the saying comes from the word "blue" being used sometimes to strengthen words, as in "blue blazes," or "talk a blue streak," or... "a blue million."
I live in Louisville, Kentucky, where we have a campaign called, “Keep Louisville Weird.” That’s simply a catchy way of saying support local business. McDonalds and Applebees are everywhere, but it’s the local businesses that give a city uniqueness and flavor. Local businesses are usually small businesses, with limited capital and resources. Not unlike Indie authors.
So I've started my own campaign called, “Authors Are Weird Too.” Everybody has heard of John Sandford, Michael Connelly, and Patricia Cornwall. They’re doing just fine on their own, thank you very much. But it’s the new authors, especially the new Indie authors who need support. I hope to do that on this blog. If you’d like to be interviewed or would like to do a guest blog, contact me at amy@amymetz.com and we’ll talk. And if you’re John Sandford, Michael Connelly, or Patricia Cornwall, I’d love to talk to you as well.

Murder & Mayhem In Goose Pimple Junction
When Tess Tremaine starts a new life in the colorful town of Goose Pimple Junction, curiosity leads her to look into a seventy-five-year-old murder. Suddenly she’s learning the foreign language of southern speak, resisting her attraction to local celebrity Jackson Wright, and dealing with more mayhem than she can handle.
A bank robbery, murder, and family tragedy from the 1930s are pieces of the mystery that Tess attempts to solve. As she gets close to the truth, she encounters danger, mystery, a lot of southern charm, and a new temptation for which she’s not sure she’s ready.

ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great blog!!
Thank you, Thom! Looking forward to having you as a guest.
DeleteHey Amy,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great platform for writers looking to emerge from obscurity. How do I take advantage of your blue streak? Like, do I need to write a book first?
Your pal,
Dennis
Dear Anonymous, AKA Dennis,
ReplyDeleteBlue streak--good one. To date I have only featured people who have written books. Although, if you can prove to me that you're an interesting person, I might consider letting you take advantage of me. Of my blue streak. I might interview you.
Let me throw out some possible ideas for you to write a book about:
true crime--maybe write about someone who embezzled a bunch of money and got mixed up with the mob, the FBI, and aliens;
humor--maybe a story about a hermit-wannabe who won the lottery and moved to Florida;
action/suspense--how about a story about a hero who hunts down killers and gets into all kinds of dangerous and exciting situations. Give him a love interest.
That should be enough to get you started. If you should ever write a book about any of these things, let me know. You're welcome on my blog any time.
Thanks for stopping by, pal.
Amy
